TYF Fiber Filter Technical Description

1. Product Introduction

The TYF pore-adjustable fiber filter is currently the *new generation and most advanced fiber filtration technology.

The TYF pore-adjustable fiber filter features the high precision of fiber filtration, while further increasing filtration speed up to 100 m/h, with a maximum single-unit output of 450 m³/h, and simultaneously solving the backwashing issues of fiber filtration. It can replace other filtration equipment such as mechanical filters, high-efficiency fiber filters, and fiber ball filters. It is suitable for various water pretreatment and subsequent filtration applications, such as reclaimed water filtration, ultrafiltration pretreatment, circulating water side-stream filtration, wastewater reuse pretreatment, ion exchange pretreatment, desalination pretreatment, etc.

2. Application Scope

1). Filtration for boiler make-up water in various industries;
2). Cooling in power plants, steel industry, etc.;
3). Filtration for high turbidity and phosphorus-containing discharge water and reclaimed water reuse;

3. Performance Advantages

u  Large single-unit processing capacity: For a 2500 mm diameter unit, the water treatment capacity is 900 m³/h.

u  Small footprint: Under the same water treatment capacity conditions, the equipment has a smaller diameter and fewer units, making it easy to manage;

u  Thorough backwashing: Especially when applied in reclaimed water or wastewater filtration, the filter backwashes thoroughly;

u  Filter characteristics: High precision of 2-5 μm, high filtration speed of 60–100 m/h;

u  Single unit 900 m3/h with a diameter of only 2400 mm, low self-water consumption rate of 0.5~3%.

u  Low filtration pressure difference of 0.08 MPa;

u  Fiber filaments (PP) are imported, offering excellent performance in chemical stability, resistance to strong acids, strong alkalis, strong oxidants, and biodegradation.

4. Product Principle:

The TYF pore-adjustable fiber filter uses a special soft fiber filament as the filter media, achieving a filtration precision of several micrometers, with the advantages of large specific surface area and low filtration resistance.

Filtration principle: Fiber filaments hang vertically along the outer wall of the porous tube from top to bottom. During filtration, the upper rotating device tightens the fiber filaments on the outer wall of the porous tube, reducing the pores between the filaments longitudinally to form a filter layer. Water enters the interior of the porous tube through the filter layer from the outside, and suspended solids in the water are trapped outside the fiber filaments or inside the filter layer. The interior of the porous tube contains filtered clean water. As the trapped suspended contaminants (impurities) in the filter layer increase, the water treatment capacity decreases. When the filtration pressure difference reaches the set value, the system automatically enters the backwashing process.

Backwashing principle: During backwashing, the upper rotating device loosens the tightened fiber filaments, increasing the pores between them. Backwash water flows from the inside of the porous tube to the outside to flush the loosened filter layer. Simultaneously, compressed air continuously agitates the loosened fiber filaments, causing them to rub against each other. The backwash water carries away the trapped suspended solids from inside the fiber filaments. The backwash water and air are discharged through the backwash drain pipe. After cleaning is completed, the system automatically returns to the filtration process.

Working Process

Filtration process (stable filtration precision):

Since this filter uses the pores between fiber filaments longitudinally for filtration and employs a mechanical mechanism to compress the fiber filaments, the filaments are strictly arranged in the predetermined direction, forming small pores, high filtration precision (achieving 2~5 μm), and uniform pores, absolutely avoiding channeling.

Backwashing process (absolute advantages in backwashing):

1) During backwashing, the fiber filaments are completely loosened, and the pores between them increase, making it easy to remove loosely adhered suspended solids.

2) In the loosened state of the fiber filaments, air is introduced from the bottom via a Roots blower. This utilizes the scrubbing function of air and, more importantly, the disturbance generated by the air causes the fiber filaments to vibrate intensely, creating friction between them. Suspended solids firmly adhered to the fiber filaments are rubbed off and flushed away by the backwash water.

3) The main reason fiber filter media are difficult to clean is due to knots or hanging parts. This filter only uses the middle part of the fiber filaments; the hanging parts participate in backwashing but not in filtration, so they do not affect overall filtration and backwashing.

4) During the backwashing process, the upper tightening device continuously tightens and loosens, similar to the principle of a washing machine's spin cycle, further cleaning the fiber filaments.
